I want to like the new, live-action “Aladdin.” I really do, but then they pull stuff like this and it’s hard to not be back and forth with things. Just when I thought I was content with “Friend Like Me,” a huge staple song from the 1990’s film, an updated version of “A Whole New World” for the end credits drops with ZAYN and Zhavia Ward, and well “I’m Upset.”

A music video paired with the release of the single features the two artists passively singing the iconic tune. This version lacks Soul to me. I was hoping Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx would do an updated “A Whole New World” for the end credits to give me Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle feels, but I see this live-action movie is trying to appeal to the new generation and not the 90’s kids.

Even the music video lacks the magic of a Disney film. Who’s in charge here? Maybe it’s just me because I love “Aladdin” so much and my emotions are heightened for this to be great, but judge for yourself.

Watch ZAYN and Zhavia Ward sing “A Whole New World” from the live-action “Aladdin” in the clip below. Does this version give you the Disney feels? Share your thoughts in the comments.
