The plot remains the same. Karen Barclay (Aubrey Plaza) gives her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a doll for his birthday. Unbeknownst to Karen, the adorable looking doll is really possessed by a sinister spirit in the re imagined film “Child’s Play.”
Instead of Good Guy dolls, the Buddi doll is at the forefront of this plot which is now a “technologically advanced smart toy” with a tampered AI that’s constantly evolving for the best, and worst. This film will be a complete departure from the Don Mancini created franchise. He has no affiliation with the film neither does the original cast. So that looks like Brad Dourif is out. We don’t even get to see Chucky in the first teaser for this remake, so I’m not too sure how on board I am with this film.
“Child’s Play” hits theaters June 21, 2019.
