Back in October we met the 2019 version of Stephen King’s Creed family in the first look at the upcoming remake of “Pet Sematary.” When I first wrote about the movie I had no idea there was going to be a remake and the trailer seemed to follow the same essence of the 1989 version, but with this newly released trailer a MAJOR plot change has been revealed. I’m talking major.
“Pet Sematary” stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, Jeté Laurence, and Hugo & Lucas Lavoie as the Creed family with John Lithgow as the creepy, yet helpful neighbor Jud. Directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, the horror novel comes to life again for a new generation following the Creed family relocating and encountering a sinister cemetery where the dead don’t stay that way.
In the new trailer, that kind of gives the whole movie away, we get to see more clips and a plot twist has been revealed. In the late 1980’s film Gage is the ill-fated Creed child who meets his demise and is later brought back to life from the use of the pet sematary. The trailer reveals Ellie is the one that is killed and comes back to haunt her family and release her demonic ways. NO! I’m just not feeling this change. I loved that little demon baby child in the original movie and much of the commentary online is saying the same thing. I would love for you to chime in.
Watch the new trailer for “Pet Sematary,” coming to theaters April 5th, in the clip below. How do you feel about the major plot change? Let me know in the comments below.
