Way back when I was young girl and use to actually go to the library, Alvin Schwartz’ series of horror books Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark were my GO TO. I would frequently check out the books just to read the same stories over and over again. Maybe this is where my love of horror came from. I specifically remember the story about the bump on the girls face that was a spider bite that hatched and the Mexican rat that was brought home because the person thought it was a dog.
The idea of these stories coming to life is just a dream for my childhood self. Inspired by the iconic books, Guillermo del Toro (“The Shape of Water,” “Hellboy,” “Pan’s Labyrinth”) is bringing the stories to the big screen later in the summer, August 9. The film will follow a group of teens who are forced to solve the mystery behind the disturbing deaths plaguing their small town. During the Super Bowl, the first teasers for the film dropped. Now I’m officially on board.
