Jennifer Lopez was the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards which aired live Monday, August 20th from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The award given to artists to recognize their talent in film and music dates back to 1984, renamed in 1991 to honor Jackson. Lopez joins the likes of David Bowie, The Beatles, U2, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Madonna, and LL Cool J to be honored with the award. Usually the honoree performs or have some sort of tribute done in their honor.
Lopez opted to take the viewing audience into her Las Vegas residency and gave a golden performance of hits including: “Waiting For Tonight,” “Get On The Floor,” “Get Right,” “I’m Glad,” “Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” “Dinero,” and more. Ja Rule even joined JLo on stage to perform some of their iconic hits together.
