We live in the age of viral videos. A simple visual only a couple of seconds long can launch or crumble the careers of upcoming artists; such as so is the premise of Netflix’s upcoming film “The After Party” starring Kyle Harvey aka rapper SuperDuperKyle and Harrison Holzer.

Kyle plays aspiring rapper Owen with his best friend Jeff (Holzer) serving as his wing man/manager to help him get his career started. An unfortunate viral video involving rapper Wiz Khalifa sends Kyle in a frenzy thinking his career is over before it actually begins. His bestie Jeff is not going to let that happen and insists if they can get into this major after party Kyle can redeem himself in the rap world. Many familiar hip-hop artists appear in the film like French Montana, DJ Khaled, and Pusha T and Teyana Taylor also has a role as a stripper.

Back in November 2017, Holzer told GGB in an exclusive interview that his character Jeff was a mix of Entourage‘s Ari Gold and Jonah Hill’s “Superbad” character Seth. “If those two came together and had a baby then that’s Jeff Levine,” Harrison said with a laugh. He added that shooting the film was one of the best experiences of his life and he really connected to the role. “How I fell upon this role is reminiscent of the message in this story. You know the message in this story is to one, first and foremost stay loyal to your friends always through thick and thin, but two, is to visualize your dreams and chase them endlessly. Even if you don’t reach the goal you’ll be happy that you tried.”

“The After Party” premieres August 24, 2018 only on Netflix.
