Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” is one of the most anticipated films of 2019 and not just for the all-star cast, but for the story that it follows.
Set in 1969 Los Angeles, Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) find themselves in a Hollywood they don’t recognize. The ever-changing industry is something Rick is trying comprehend and finds distraction in his famous next-door neighbor Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).
Tate’s most notable role for me was Jennifer North in “The Valley of the Dolls,” but she also had an extensive role in The Beverly Hillbillies TV series. She was married to director Roman Polanski (“Rosemary’s Baby) and met an untimely demise in 1969 as a victim of the Charles Manson family murders. Although Tate is a focus of the film, the Manson murders are not.
Robbie shared a first look at her Sharon Tate character on Monday, Aug. 6 on Instagram with the caption, “First look. #OnceUponATimeInHollywood @onceinhollywood.” The resemblance is indeed striking.
Burt Reynolds, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Al Pacino, Damian Lewis, Luke Perry, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Clifton Collins, Scoot McNairy, Keith Jefferson and Nicholas Hammond all appear in the film.
“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” is expected to hit theaters July 26, 2019. What do you think of Margot Robbie’s take on Sharon Tate? Does this film interest you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
