Ariana Grande appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon for the #ArianaonFallon take over on Tuesday, May 1, for a night of surprises, sketches, and most importantly details on her upcoming fourth studio album.
The entire show was filled with Grande as a guest and musical performer to close the show with the TV debut of her new single “No Tears Left To Cry.” Sketches included a faux talk show called NBD (No Big Deal) where Fallon and Grande’s characters bragged about things that were no big deal, but in reality they were lavish things. Another clip brought Grande face to face with some of her fans who were tricked into thinking they were just recording a Grande song for the artist to later see, but they got to meet her. The best sketch of the night probably came with Grande showing off her powerhouse voice in the game Musical Genre Challenge.
NOW album news! Grande’s upcoming fourth studio album will be called Sweetener. “Because it’s kind of about bringing light to a situation or someone’s life or for somebody else to bring light into your life. Sweetening the situation,” the 24-year-old said about the album. She also dropped some track titles including: “R.E.M.,” “The Light Is Coming,” “God is a Woman,” (Nonna’s, Grande’s grandmother, favorite), and an intro called “Raindrops” which has a special tie to Grande’s late grandfather.
The pop princess also mentioned that the album will drop this summer and every 20th of each month leading to the album release will be a surprise. May 20th will be Grande’s performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, so that means Sweetener will drop either June, July, or August 20th. Let’s hope it’s not the latter.
