They say when you travel with someone you’ll really get to know a person, so much so that you may want to spend the rest of your days traveling with them. Lifetime’s Love at First Flight puts that theory to the test. Couples are paired with an idealistic match and travel across North America together with the opportunity to marry each other upon landing at their final destination. Dallas’ Singles & The City CEO Stephanie Johnson got paired with Michael Stewart for the chance of a lifetime to explore their #relationshipgoals for the world to see.

Before the season 1 finale this week, Glambergirlblog.com chatted with Stephanie Johnson about the show, her singles community, and what path led her to the dating reality series.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Johnson is a second generation American with her family line rooting in Suriname, South America. Moving to Dallas in 2010 led to Stephanie’s love for the hospitality working in the fine-dining industry. Her career path took her on a journey through Human Resources, Sales & Marketing, Corporate Concierge and even being a nanny. It wasn’t until 2013 til the CEO bone grew in Johnson and she created Singles & The City.

Now Singles & The City is not what you’re thinking. It’s NOT a dating service but more of a self-help community to develop singles into the best version of themselves before getting into a relationship. “Healthy people attract healthy people,” Johnson said about her company further explaining what singles can get out of joining the group. “[We] host intimate and high demand workshops and dinners that bring in city’s most notable Therapists/Counselors/Life Coaches to help empower and encourage singles to make smarter dating decisions and maximize this time of their life. Our tagline is: ‘There’s more to being single than dating.'”

Coincidentally enough, Stephanie Johnson landed a spot on the premiere season of Lifetime’s Love at First Flight to put into practice what her company teachers others, but did she have any apprehensions dating for the world to see? “Absolutely, especially with it being the first season. No one had ever heard of it! Casting reached out to my company on Instagram – and I ended up applying on a whim – and here we are today! Being that the show is so closely in line with my business- I had to definitely stay true to myself and my values.”

Filming was long and going through the challenges wasn’t always the best for Stephanie, but the experience overall was good and she learned a lot about herself pertaining to relationships. “I’ve learned that team work with the right partner can make or break any relationship, professional or romantic. I love my journey of growth with Michael because I was MYSELF the entire time. I genuinely moved from a place of boxing him into the “friend category” to the development of a genuine friend/romantic relationship. It’s beautiful to see us eventually open up and bond.”

The bond between Michael and Stephanie definitely falls in line with what Johnson feels is “relationship goals.” “Having respect, honor, transparency, vulnerability, being yourself 100% of the time, ALL starting from a genuine friendship that has the potential to be more,” she said.

So what can fans of the show expect in the season finale? “Viewers might want to get some tissue ready!”
