Hello GGB readers,
I want to get in the habit of posting more about the journey of my blog and being more candid about how the struggle being real when running your own site, but today I’ll just be open about how happy that after 7 years my site is still up and running and I still love what I do.
The story of this blog site is simple. I was graduating under grad with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, concentration in Broadcast Journalism, thinking I would get writing jobs. Funny thing is I didn’t have any solid writing samples to submit and obviously the ones I drafted up weren’t cutting it. I toyed around with the idea of blogging in school, but that was for class assignments and I didn’t take that serious. It wasn’t until 2011 when I was sitting in my dorm room in grad school when I said, what the hell let’s start this blog.
Back then Glambergirlblog was going to be an online space for me to create an online writing portfolio while sharing my experiences living in New York. I can admit I had no idea what I was doing for real and my writing back then was indeed questionable. But that’s why you learn right? Over the years I really found my writing voice and the niche that I truly loved. Those years brought me opportunities to interview countless celebrities, attend amazing events to cover as press, and taught me that my dreams are valid. Put in the work and nothing that is meant for you can be taken away.
Thanks to all of you who have supported my blog since the beginning and have continued to grow with me and thanks to all my newest viewers who have jumped on the GGB train and offered nothing but kind words on the work I put out into the universe. My blog is my everything and I’m so grateful to anyone who takes the time to click a link, like a social media pic, repost a story, or even mention my blog’s name in conversation. I’m moving on to my lucky number 7 year and I know the best is yet to come!
xoxo Amber
