“For some of you coming together means ignoring our experiences,” are the first words spoken in the teaser trailer for season 2 of Netflix’s highly talked about series Dear White People; a show following a group of students at a predominantly white Ivy League college tackling issues of discrimination.
Based on the 2014 film of the same name, the series digs deeper on issues facing Black people and minorities in today’s janked up society. The first teaser for what’s to come in volume 2 “breaks down” subjects like: Cultural appropriation, sex and gender norms, mild adult themes, racist bots, Black lesbians, Cocoa Butter, salty grits, oppression, conspiracy theories, Jesus, weed, The Sunken Place, fake news and much more.
Many familiar faces from season 1 return to bring their melanin magic back to the same screen and there are some newbies, like Todrick Hall, showing up in the series. Volume 2 of Dear White People will stream on Netflix May, 4, 2018
