Cardi B’s Debut Album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ Lands Her A Certified Gold Ranking

I will preface this post with I am not a rap fan. I enjoy old school hip-hop and I have liked a recent song or two these days, but I have not owned rap albums, especially in the recent years. My rap album collection includes Chingy (I know) and a couple T.I. albums (because I had a huge crush on him back in undergrad).

So on the eve of Cardi B‘s debut album I wasn’t really pressed to stay up until midnight to stream it on Apple Music. I once found the stripper turned reality star turned top-selling artist annoying, but I did admire the Bronx native’s come up in the music industry. I’ve liked her features on Bruno Mars’ “Finesse” and G-Eazy’s “No Limit,” but that’s about it. However I was intrigued enough by the Twitter commentary to give Cardi’s debut album Invasion of Privacy a listen and I didn’t hate it. In fact, I purchased a few songs.

Invasion of Privacy is for sure an independent woman’s guide to boost herself when she’s feeling down about life, her status as a queen, insecurity in a relationship, or if you just need a good record to twerk to. The album has it all. I can count on one hand the amount of songs I really liked, but it’s good to see someone win when many doubted Cardi’s “Bodak Yellow” record would make her a one hit wonder. Cardi’s debut earned a certified gold status without being out for a full 24 hours. Cardi B’s time is now!
