Frank Ocean can now be considered the male Beyoncé of the R&B world known for dropping music without warning. On Valentine’s Day this year he did just that.

“Moon River” became a trending topic on Thursday, Feb. 15, for a good chunk of the day. The Hollywood classic film fan in me automatically thought of the 1961 Audrey Hepburn film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Hepburn sung the song in the film and it went on to win the Oscar for Best Music, Original Song in 1962. Ocean covered the haunting track and fans could not handle how beautiful it sounded. One Twitter user posted, “It’s like Frank Ocean knew most of us were bummed out about today and dropped a song on midnight to help out.” (@SuperCarrot3). Another wrote, “New Frank Ocean is just crack to me at this point.” (@oldfaysal). The cover had some Twitter users emotional though. @_Brittt_Brattt_ wrote, “So frank ocean got me crying at 4am with Moon river.”

While some knew the song was a cover immediately and not an original song. “Hope people realize that Frank Ocean released a cover & not a new song. Still lovely & Beautiful but just know it’s a cover!” @NickkChavez posted on social media.

Listen to Frank Ocean’s cover of “Moon River” in the clip below along with Audrey Hepburn’s original version from “Breakfast At Tiffany’s.” What do you think about the cover? Does it make you anxious for more new Ocean music? Share all your thoughts in the comments.
