Philadelphia, PA – Making it through one year of being an entrepreneur is a difficult feat. Thriving and still running a business in year two is a major accomplishment; one that Moguls in Media owner Darcel Laurie celebrated during an intimate dinner of power players in the city of brotherly love on Wednesday evening, Jan. 10.
Moguls in Media is a platform for established Journalists, TV/Radio Personalities, Writers, Photographers, Entrepreneurs, Stylists, and others to join forces and share resources with up and comers in the industries mentioned beforehand. Laurie started her business to be that go to source to expand your network often referring to the saying “your network is your net-worth.”
In downtown Philly, aspiring and many established moguls gathered at WeWork, an event and work space, to commemorate year two of Moguls in Media along with honoring some special #GirlBosses. Hosted by Laniesha David, guests enjoyed delectable hors d’oeuvre prepared by Hell’s Kitchen season 14 contestant Christine Hazel while mingling with other guests in the inviting space. Attendees also had the opportunity to give their brand a boost by getting professional head shots taken by Photo Illusions.
Later on in the evening the floor opened up in a community Q&A where the question “when it comes to success I always wanted to know…” was asked. Having submitted questions earlier, different women and men took turns offering up advice on success, balancing your work and play, earning multiple streams of income, staying motivated, and more.
Following that segment the lady of the hour took the floor to honor a group of women she holds dear to her heart and has each played an intricate part of her journey. Christine Hazel (Chef and Contributor of the Year), Elaine Johnson (Founder of Latina’s in Motion and Mentor of the Year), Kristy Lynn Purnell (Of Kristy Lynn Lifstyle and Supporter of the Year), and Janet Odubeko (Of Informative Artistry and PR of the Year) all received certificates and a small gift during a touching presentation.
Before the night ended with a networking session, Darcel Laurie talked about her upcoming book, launching in March with pre-orders available now, called “Tired of One Night Stands With Success: I want a fully committed relationship.” The book is guide on about dating your business with the intention of marriage and making a commitment to success. One lucky guest also won a raffle that awarded a free three-week coaching session.
The night was empowering and left many inspired to leap out of the box and chase their dreams boldly.
