Oprah Winfrey Honored With Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 2018 Golden Globes Delivers Brilliant Speech Uplifting Women And Black Community

“Speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”

Oprah Winfrey was honored with the Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 7th for her achievements in cinema and television throughout her stellar career. As expected, her acceptance speech was something Hollywood deary needed to hear in the wake of the “#Metoo” and “Time’s up!” movements.

In Winfrey’s speech she enlightened the audience on the value and dire importance of speaking your truth, the suppression women have faced for decades, the story of Recy Taylor, and persevering through “dark nights” with hope.

The speech Oprah delivered got so many people on fire that a social campaign for her to run for president in 2020 has been making waves. Some could be joking, while others are very serious. Either way, Oprah created a shift with her speech last night that was needed in so many ways. Who needs a presidency when you can already make a difference in this country right where you are.
