SZA dropped a music video for her heavy rotation single “The Weekend” and as Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather would say the fans “HATED IT.”
The 28-year-old singer’s single has been on the lips of women everywhere and they had such high expectations for the visual, but with Solange taking over as director for the music video it was an unexpected concept for the track in itself.
Filled with heavy zoom ins and outs, slow motion, and double takes, the music video had a Solange stamp on it for sure, so much so that fans have been comparing it to “Cranes in the Sky;” and I agree. I love “The Weekend” and would have loved the video to be so much better than it is. You know actually a narrative instead of this artsy take on the song. I honestly feel her SNL performance could have been deemed the official music video because Solange this is a no.
