It’s the episode true fans of Saved By The Bell and new fans of Funny or Die’s ‘Zack Morris is Trash‘ have been waiting for. Possibly one of the most iconic episodes and moments in pop culture, television history is when Jessie got hooked on caffeine pills and sung out “I’m so excited” before breaking down in tears professing how scared she was on Saved By The Bell. But what exactly did Zack have to do with Jessie getting to that breaking point? Let Dashiell Driscoll explain.

Based on episode 9 from season 2 called “Jessie’s Song,” Driscoll starts narrating how Jessie is pumping herself with coffee to stay awake to study. She wants to get into Stanford and has big scholastic obligations approaching. All of this means nothing to Zack when he hears Jessie, Lisa, and Kelly sing in The Max. Always on a get rich scheme, Zack uses this as opportunity to exploit his friends for money. He secretly records them and sends the demo to a record producer friend.

The girls are a big hit and even record a music video, but the pressure of rising fame and maintaining above average grades gets the best of Jessie and she starts taking caffeine pills to handle it all, especially the added pressure Zack put on her. Zack Morris is trash.
