It’s official! After months of rumors Justin Timberlake has been announced as the Pepsi halftime performer for Super Bowl LII.
JT took to social media to share the news alongside his bestie Jimmy Fallon. He used the caption, “I DO have the time. Half the time… #PepsiHalftime #SBLII @Pepsi @NFL @JimmyFallon @FallonTonight.” [See below] An official statement from the NFL read, “The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show is the most-watched musical event of the year. Last year’s show was the most-watched musical event of all-time across all platforms and the most-watched Super Bowl Halftime performance in history through broadcast and digital channels, reaching more than 150 million unique people, garnering more than 80 million views and totaling 260 million minutes watched.”
This isn’t Timberlake’s first Super Bowl though. He appeared in 2002 and again in 2004. JT was a special guest of Janet Jackson’s, who was the halftime performer in 2004, when the two made headlines when Justin pulled off a part of Janet’s top off exposing her breast. The moment caused great outrage leading Jackson to be blacklisted from the halftime show. Will Justin some how pay homage to Janet or does he even need to? Let me know in the comments.
