The ‘Insidious: The Last Key’ Trailer Is Way Creepier Than You Think

The next chapter in the “Insidious” franchise has been pushed back to the start of next year, but the new trailer is bringing a new fear I never knew I had. A fear of keys of all things.

In “Insidious: The Last Key,” Lin Shaye returns as Dr. Elise Rainier, the parapsychologist, who must go back to her family home to get rid of an evil spirit. Side note: am I tripping or did Elise die in “Insidious: 2?” Is this like a prequel? Or alternative universe? Help me out here “Insidious” fans.

Leigh Whannell is also back for the next chapter in the franchise as the writer and Jason Blum of Blumhouse as a producer. Oren Peli, James Wan, and Adam Robitel are also attached to the production side of the project with Spencer Locke, Marcus Henderson, and Ava Kolker appearing in the thriller.

Dr. Elise explores “The Further” deeper in the trailer to uncover the mystery of the key fingered spirit. “Insidious: The Last Key” is in theaters January 5, 2018.
