Hello Upper East Siders get ready to take a dip into a new zip code. That is if Issa Rae, creator and star of HBO’s hit series Insecure, gets her way.

Rae sat down with The New Yorker when she pitched an intriguing idea. “I would like to pitch you a new show about black teenagers think 90210 or Gossip Girl for black kids,” the actress said as she looked into the camera. She went on to share potential titles and locations for this hypothetical series and even dropped some character ideas with the main character being a rich, black teen named Little Richie.

“I don’t since, I’d say like a Moesha have we followed the lives of black teens, so like where’s our Gossip Girl,” Issa asked before giving a final push for this show.

The actress’ HBO series got picked up for another season and she recently appeared in Jay Z’s “Moonlight” visual that starred an all black cast recreating an episode of Friends. That video received so much positive praise that maybe Issa’s Gossip Girl/90210 idea could be the future of TV. They are remaking everything else these days why not do this.

Watch Issa Rae pitch her idea for a black Gossip Girl in the clip below. Does a show like this need to exist? Would you watch? Share your thoughts in the comments.
