Imagine having one of the best birthdays ever only to be killed at the end of it and then having to relive that same day over and over. “Happy Death Day” combines the classic repetitious theme of “Groundhog Day” and “Before I Fall” where college student Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) is stuck living the same day leading up to her brutal death at the end of each.
From the Blumhouse production team, the same people who brought us “Split,” “Get Out,” and “Whiplash,” the “rewinding thriller” immediately caught my attention from the second I read the name in my suggested videos to check out on YouTube. I enjoy a good horror film with elements of suspense and I feel this one will keep you guessing until the very end. Is the killer really someone Tree interacted with throughout her day? I’m curious to know your theories, so what are you waiting for?
