The First Look At ‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 5 Teases Riot Aftermath

Spring has sprung and that means we’re a month closer to the season 5 premiere of Netflix hit, Primetime Emmy-award winning series Orange is the New Black. Last time we saw the show it left on a sour note of losing inmate Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley) during a prison protest and the ladies of Litchfield erupting in pure pandemonium as a riot broke out leaving Daya (Dascha Polanco) with a gun aimed at a corrections officer while her fellow inmates cheered her on to shoot.

The first look at the upcoming season teases the direct aftermath of that riot, but still doesn’t reveal if Daya shot the officer. We do hear a gun shot, but then the screen goes black. Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Vause (Laura Prepon) are also seen in the clip saying that they are staying away from trouble and run the other way of the riot. We’ll see how this all plays out in a few months.

I have to admit though, I think OITNB has lost some of its edge. I remember a time when I would stay up to 2am EST, because that’s when it would stream for me, and binge the entire series in a day, but now I think I’ll watch a few episodes here and there unless I read there’s BIG buzz about this season.
