“I’ve written a letter to daddy,” and he is giving me the best new series I didn’t think I even wanted.
Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon are coming to the screen together to tackle one of Hollywood’s greatest fights between classic film actresses Joan Crawford and Bette Davis in FX’s Feud.
Under the Ryan Murphy name, Feud is supposed to be another anthology series highlighting some of the greatest feuds in Hollywood and pop culture history. First up, a look at what really went down between Joan Crawford and Bette Davis while filming the 1962 film “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and the effects it had on them after.
The idea of the series came to Ryan Murphy in wanting to make a show about women with a deep meaning. During the 2017 FX Television Critics Association press tour he said, “From that, I decided to jump off into Feud …We weren’t interested in doing a show about two women and their lives and the problems they had. I wasn’t interested in doing anything that was quote-unquote ‘campy,'” adding, “I was interested in doing something deeper, and painful because this was a painful experience for both women.”
Along with Murphy serving as Executive Producer, writer and director, Tim Minear and Dede Gardner are also Executive Producers with big names like: Alison Wright, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Kiernan Shipka, Kathy Bates, and Sarah Paulson attached to the project.
Feud comes to FX March 5th.
