The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards is rapidly approaching and as each day pasts the network reveals more goodies of what to expect for the show taking place later this month in New York City.
Rihanna is up for some awards this year, but an even bigger honor was announced on Thursday, August 11th. The “Work” singer will be the 2016 recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. On Twitter she tweeted, “Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28!”
In the past the MTV Video Vanguard Award brought us a N*SYNC reunion, Kanye West’s announcement for presidency, and adorable moments between Beyoncé and Blue Ivy. It’ll be interesting to see how Rihanna puts her stamp on the highly anticipated moment.
Congrats Rihanna!
The VMAs returns to NYC and will be held at Madison Square Garden for the first time. The show airs live on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, and probably all Viacom channels like the BET Awards did.
How do you think Rihanna will plan to accept her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards? Let me know in the comments below.
