If you didn’t think Kanye West could get more “out there” when it comes to expressing himself through his art, then think again, because The Life of Pablo rapper is pushing the envelope, and culture, with his new music video for “Famous.”
On Friday, June 25, the video for “Famous” premiered live in front of fans at The Forum in Inglewood, CA and streamed live exclusively on TIDAL. The visual is causing quite the stir because of the likeness’ used that represent famous men and women who have encountered Yeezus at some point in his career.
Toward the end of the video Kanye gave a “special thanks” to: Bill Cosby, Caitlyn Jenner, Amber Rose, Ray J, Kim Kardashian West, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Donald Trump, Anna Wintour, and George Bush “for being famous,” all were featured in the video in creepy wax like figures, naked. To be honest the first part of the video views as an amateur snuff film from the way the lifeless bodies of famous faces are lying and the way the video is shot.
Of course Kanye West and #TidalFamous became the top trending topics on Twitter Friday night as users sounded off with delightful commentary and reactions to the “Famous” video. Many pointed out how Mr. West sought inspiration from Vincent Desiderio’s ‘Sleep’ painting and joked about the many lawsuits that would follow from the famous folk featured in the video.
