Meet Jakiya Ayanna and Shaina Aisha, two soulful sisters who found a common love in music and formed the music duo The Amours.
Based in Washington D.C., The Amours grew their vocal range as girls in the church and studied at the Duke Ellington School of The Arts. On top of having strong harmonies and an “organic blend of R&B, Bluegrass-Soul, Jazz, Pop, and Classical fusions,” the duo are trained guitar and cajón drum players.
Ayanna, 21, and Aisha, 17, have opened for Grammy-award nominated Reality Show singer Jazmine Sullivan who said, “The Amours have the most angelic voices with a vocal blend only sisters can have. Their sound is authentic, and I know they will go far.” Along with Sullivan, The Amours opened for Teyanna Taylor and performed at the Children’s National Hospital in front of First Lady Michelle Obama and the children.
In 2015, The Amours debuted an EP, Rhythmic Love, and during that time they continued to grow their fan base. Now, the girls are re-releasing a new single called “Smile,” co-produced with Jeffrey Purdie. The Amours said, “When ‘Smile’ was written, it came from a place of realization. Realizing that things happen in our lives that we cannot control, so just smile because it’s apart of the makings of you, and it’s only going to make you stronger!”
“Smile” is available on iTunes, Google Play, CD Baby, and Amazon MP3. Be sure to purchase The Amours debut album Rhythmic Love on iTunes. Listen to The Amours latest track “Smile” below and share your thoughts in the comments.
