A few weeks after the release of Big Sean and Jheno Aiko‘s joint project Twenty88, also the name of their music group, a visual dropped called “Out Of Love” featuring the songs from the album depicting a couple’s relationship deteriorating directed by Lawrence Lamont.
“Out Of Love” first premiered exclusively on TIDAL Friday, April 8. So, what did I do? My hype self broke down and got a damn TIDAL. As much as I despise how the service does shit like this in attempt to gain subscribers, it worked this time, but only for a bit. I cancelled the minute after I watched the “Out Of Love” visual. Now it’s available on VEVO. I guess patience is a virtue, but back to the visual.
Big Sean and Jhene Aiko go by nameless characters in the visual, but it’s clear to see they are a couple who we later find out are in the entertainment industry as “actors.” In a previous interview, the two talked about how it would have a futuristic feel and feature robots. I guess I won’t spill how that truly comes into play in the visual, you’ll have to watch on your own.
I’m in love with the track “Déjà Vu” and wanted that more included in the short film, but they did have to fit all eight tracks in the video and still tell a story. The most self-proclaimed explicit track on album, “2 Minute Warning,” had the most sexual content in the film and guess what, I didn’t hate it. I know I said this before, but if Big Sean and Jhene Aiko weren’t so cute together I think I would honestly hate them. I can’t bring myself to though. To be honest, for me to be so in love with the album I wasn’t jumping up and down about the visual. Good concept, but something was off for me. Are we on the same page?
Watch the explicit “Out Of Love” visual from the debut album from Twenty88 below and be sure to tell me what you think in the comments. I’m very interested in knowing.
