The original Upper East Side bitch is back and the “Cruel Intentions” NBC reboot just got interesting.
On Instagram, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Kathryn Merteuil in 1999 film, announced that she would be reprising her role. She shared a past/present photo of the original director and executive producer from the film with herself included captioned, “#throwbackthursday (a bit early in Los Angeles) this picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions.”
Gellar continued, “That’s right “everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way” #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv.”
Early this month NBC announced the sequel pilot, I guess called Cruel, which will follow Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Witherspoon). Wait I just got Bash, short for Sebastian, and my heart just exploded. Anyway Bash finds his dad’s “hidden journal” and is introduced “to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.” Kathryn comes into play trying to get control of Valmont International and plans to toy with her nephew just like she did her late step-brother.
With Sarah Michelle Gellar joining the series is there hope that Annette aka Reese Witherspoon could make an appearance? We’ll see.
Will you be watching the “Cruel Intentions” reboot now that Sarah Michelle Gellar is back. Let me know in the comments below.
