It’s been four seasons and going on four years, but after this upcoming season we’ll have to say goodbye to Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna, and Jessa aka Lena Dunham, Allison Willams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke from HBO’s award-winning series Girls.
On Instagram, Williams first shared the news by posting a photo of the main cast from the first season. She captioned the photo, “It’s official: we GIRLS are signing off in 2017. This photo-of-a-photo was taken at our first poster shoot…why do I miss it already?! #GIRLS @lenadunham @girlshbo #Season5AirsFeb21.”
Dunham, writer, producer, and lead of the show, reposted the photo to her IG account, further confirming the news. She captioned the video, “Outtake from our first ever @girlshbo poster shoot in 2011. We are so grateful to be picked up for our 6th and final season Meanwhile, season 5 premieres Feb. 21! I caught on to the Girls bandwagon a little after the season 1 finale ended. There were previews on demand and I was intrigued to watch the show. I binged watched the first season in one night and fell in love with those characters. Season 1 was everything I was dealing with in my 20’s at the moment, hell even two was on point, but the show slowly started going down hill and it wasn’t as funny as it started off to me.
I’m not sad to see Girls come to an end, but there are a few things I want to happen before the show wraps in 2017:
1. Adam and Hannah must get back together. I don’t want anything cliché like them getting married or something, but I want them back together.
2. I would want Charlie to come back in some way. He left so randomly, he has to make some sort of appearance.
3. Jessa finds a nice guy who can put up with her crap and inspire her to get her life in order.
4. Ray and Shosh get back together. I thought they were cute and now that they had time to mature, they could be good for each other.
5. The series finale leaves on a note that could lead to a Girls movie.
The season 5 premiere of Girls airs Sunday, February 21 at 10pm on HBO. What do you think about Girls coming to an end? Share your thoughts in the comments.
