We all are familiar with the blockhead we know and love as Charlie Brown and his band of Peanuts, but now a new generation will get to experience and get to know the beloved characters brought to life by the great Charles M. Schulz, creator of the Peanuts comic strip.

In the first theatrical Peanuts films in 35 years, “The Peanuts Movie” is bringing together a group of talented young actors and actresses to voice Charlie Brown, Linus, Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, Lucy and many more come November. I got to talk to one of those talented people who voices Marcie in the film.

Rebecca Bloom started her acting career at the tender age of 7. The California native got her first taste of the industry by acting in a television commercial for the Apple iPhone 5. That led her to landing a leading voice role as Masha on Masha and the Bear in 2013. Fast forward to present day, get ready to hear Bloom as Marcie, the side kick of Peppermint Patty, in the new “Peanuts” movie.

When talking to Bloom she told me about her knowledge of the comic strip. “I knew about Snoopy and I had seen a couple [Charlie Brown films] before I got cast in the movie. I’m glad that they are reintroducing the legendary comics to my generation.”

She later talked about her character Marcie. “She loves school. She’s not the best at sports and she loves her friends. She’s best friends with Peppermint Patty. She appreciates the fine arts and she admires herself. Her self-esteem was low but then she learns how to stick up for herself and she enjoys a good book,” Bloom said.

There is a lot to look forward to in the new “Peanuts” movie and Rebecca Bloom shared her favorite scene. “They all have this huge talent show and Peppermint Patty is doing karate and I have to be her side kick. So I got to make all these funny noises and there’s action and it was really fun.”

Bloom is similar to the character she plays in that they both love school and their friends. Outside of acting, Bloom plays sports, does swimming and acrobatics. She has a big Labrador named Junior and two kittens and hopes to help out with animal rights organizations. She’s working a project that she can’t talk about yet, but GGB will keep you posted.
