Move over M.Night Shyamalan because there’s a new film bringing a new creepy village to haunt our nightmares.
“The Witch” is a New-England Folktale and the Sundance Film Festival winner of Best Director, Robert Eggers, who also wrote the film. The horror film is set in 1630 New England and follows devout Christians William and Katherine (Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie) as they pack up and leave the world they know to head to “the edge of an impassible wilderness” with five children.
The trailer gives off a “The Village” vibe and plays off the “there’s something in the woods” concept. The family’s newborn is mysteriously taken away and then other things start to go awry. “Evil Takes Many Forms” and family turns into enemies.
“The Witch” will be in theaters in 2016. Watch the trailer below and share your thoughts in the comments.
