FX’s hit comedy series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is at the half way mark of its first season so if you haven’t joined the SDRR tour bus the time is now.

Series creator and star of SDRR Denis Leary has always talked about the importance of using live vocals and instruments during the music segments of the show and explained further in a new “Liner Notes” video taking the audience on a backstage pass with The Assassins.

“I think the audience can tell when you’re really singing and when you’re not,”Leary starts to say in the video. “The other thing with any particular moment in time and any particular scene there’s also some real emotion happening on each take that the singer brings. There’s certain things that are real to your eye because they’re real and if you fake it too much I think the audience, at least I do, I come off the edge of my seat.”

Leary further talks about the talented cast and their background in music, along with fans getting teases of new music and a glimpse of Liz Gillies‘ “Desire” performance.
