BET Greenlights Miniseries Biopic About R&B Group New Edition

Get ready to know all about New Edition because the R&B group is getting a miniseries biopic coming to BET.

All members of the 1990’s group: Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant, minus founding member Bobby Brown, have signed on to reunite for a three-night miniseries event set to premiere in 2016.

The untitled miniseries will be co-produced by the five members in the TV movie and will be BET’s first scripted music-focused program. New Edition’s longtime manager Brooke Payne will also co-produce, with Abdul Williams (“Lottery Ticket”) penning the script.

A statement from the group read, “From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and the Jackson 5, we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here.”
