NBC’s The Wiz Live! has found its star to play Dorothy in the upcoming production in 18-year-old rising star Shanice Williams.
Williams, a native from New Jersey, beat out hundreds of contenders to land the coveted role made famous Stephanie Mills in 1975 Broadway show and Diana Ross in 1978 film version of The Wiz.
Queen Latifah and Mary J. Blige have previously been announced to play The Wiz and the Wicked Witch of the West, along with Stephanie Mills to play Auntie Em. There are a few new additions that have been added and The Wiz Live! just got a bit more better.
