Love Is Officially Dead: Kermit and Miss Piggy Break Up

2015 has been the year of the break up! I could run down the list of long time and beloved couples who have decided to split but the only one you need to be concerned with right now is Kermit and Miss Piggy. Yeah, they’re not actually real people but the amount of devastation that’s felt about this break up makes them as real as any human.

Kermit The Frog and Miss Piggy broke headlines on Tuesday, August 4, when they announced their split to the world. In a joint statement on Facebook the former couple wrote, “After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Miss Piggy made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship.”

But the two will remain cordial for The Muppets, a rebooted series that premieres on ABC this fall. “We will continue to work together on television (“The Muppets”/Tuesdays 8pm this fall on ABC) and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement concluded. 

Miss Piggy posted the same message to her fans on Twitter.
