NeNe Leakes Leaves ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ – Read Her Statement

After almost eight years of gracing television screens on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, NeNe Leakes, one of the original members of the cast, has decided to leave the reality show.

There has been speculation on whether or not Leakes would be leaving the show and this week she confirmed the news herself to her fans on social media. On Facebook, the 48-year-old wrote, “This is so hard for me to type! I cry as I do so! After seven seaons, I am so grateful for all the love and laughs! I can confirm that I have decided not to return to RHOA for the eighth season.”

She continued, “Thank you everyone that has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform! Special thanks to Andy Cohen, True Entertainment, & Bravo for giving me the opportunity to show the world Nene Leakes and sometimes give them NayNay. This has been such a big part of my life but I am excited for new beginnings that I will share with you soon. With lots of thoughts and prayer, I’ve decided to step out on faith and not fear. xoxo.”

So what’s next for NeNe? She told People, “I’m actually going to be doing a new primetime television show with a big legend. All of my fans will get to see me be really happy, witty and funny and tell all of those one liners that I always have said on Housewives.” Leakes will begin filming for that series this week and if you are playing Kim Kardashian Hollywood, Leakes has been added to the game. Things are looking great for her.
