Raven-Symoné can officially add daytime talk show host to her resume. After months of sitting in as a guest co-host, the Empire actress has landed a spot as a permanent co-host on The View.
The announcement came at the start of Wednesday’s show when co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “We’re kicking something special off. We’re happy to announce Raven-Symoné is now permanently part of ‘The View!’”[See video below]
Symoné then came on stage to bursts of confetti and a standing ovation exclaiming “I am so happy,” once she was able to take a seat following the fanfare. She continued, “I remember coming on The View when I was 15-years-old for “The Cheetah Girls,” didn’t come back for the next “Cheetah Girls,” came back again, came back with you [Goldberg] and Broadway and I’m very happy to be sitting with these smart, talented mentors, and I brought you gifts!”After circulating treats for the co-hosts to munch on the 29-year-old said “let’s have some fun!”
In a statement, Barbara Walters, The View creator and executive producer, said “Raven-Symoné is a welcome addition to The View. She is happy, amusing and well-informed, and has already brought a unique perspective to the program that has resonated with our audience.”
