Hailey Sole is a beautiful, young rising actress whose credits include roles on: Private Practice, The Middle, Harry’s Law, Parks And Recreation, Franklin & Bash, and Criminal Minds. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Sole received a nomination for the “Young Artist Award” from her role on Private Practice and has maintained a pretty normal life despite her rise in Hollywood.

When she’s not working, Hailey is an active cheerleader, an Honor Award Member of the California Junior Scholarship Federation,  a federation that fosters high standards of scholarship, service and citizenship, and she’s also studying two languages: Mandarian and Spanish.

This summer you can catch Hailey on Netflix’s anticipated prequel limited series “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp” as Amy alongside the likes of Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, and more of the original cast from the 2001 raunchy comedy “Wet Hot American Summer.” While Sole’s own camp experience was nothing compared to the movie, she enjoyed working with the other camper becoming good friends with them and acting with the camp counselors.

I had the opportunity to speak with Hailey Sole recently and we talked about how she got into acting, her experience on “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp,” her charity work and more. Check out some excerpts from our chat below:

On acting as a child: “Well when I was probably about three I always liked to set up my stuff animals and give them little roles to play, make my own little shows, but it usually didn’t work out cause they didn’t say their lines [laughs]. Then I eventually realized that I really didn’t like any sports, so my parents put me in a small, little acting workshop in our hometown of Texas and there was an agency there that liked me, so they had me come out to California and audition and that’s kind of where it all started.”

On “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp”: “My agent called me and they said I had an audition, so I was just like oh, you know how I go out on all these auditions. My parents read it, it sounded a little risky, but my friends were like ‘just go out on it, you have a good character,’ so I went out on it. My friends are very protective, so I decided to go out on it and I ended up getting a call, and they were like ‘that’s awesome it worked out.”

On balancing school and career: “I think it’s pretty easy to balance it because I go to a regular school with people who don’t really act so it’s not a competition for me. I’m just friends with them for who they are and they’re friends with me for me. It’s really interesting because I get to go to school, and school has always been a number one priority for me, so I get to go to school and then after school I got my extra circular activities which is acting and I get to go have fun with that. I think it’s really well-balanced, but I’m also on cheer, so I keep it balanced really well.

On charity work: “I worked on “Helping All Transients,” other wise known at H.A.T, and we go to skid row, we get sleeping bags, we pack lunches and hygiene kits, and we go out for a couple of hours and they make just a huge long line and we hand out as much things as we can and help them out. We hand out blankets, clothes, and food and it’s really interesting because it means a lot that I can help other people who aren’t as fortunate as  me because we are very fortunate and we have great lives, we get to wake up in a house every morning but sometimes they don’t.”

On career role model: “Probably Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lawrence. Angelina Jolie she’s done so many roles and she’s played them all so differently and amazing, and she’s just an incredible actress and that’s really a kind of role model to me that I want to be like her. Or Jennifer Lawrence because she’s just like so funny and out there and I would love to be able to express myself like she does.”

On advice for young girls starting in the business: “I would tell them, yeah it’s a sacrifice but if they really set their heart and if they really think it’s what they want to do then definitely go for it. You shouldn’t be afraid of it and it’s a really fun business and really interesting, and if you really want it, definitely go for it.”
