Sir Ben Kingsley and Avan Jogia are set to bring ancient Egypt to life this summer in the miniseries event on Spike telling the story of the infamous boy king Tutankhamun.

In a new preview for Tut presented exclusively by Yahoo, action, deceit, and the fight for power are on the fore front of the six-hour miniseries premiering in July chronicling the momentary reign of King Tut. Sir Ben Kingsley spoke to Yahoo TV about the experience of shooting the series in Morocco and how that aligned with the actual life of the well-known pharaoh. “While we were filming, we found more evidence of Tutankhamun’s death, his physical ailments, and all kinds of extraordinary details,” the Oscar-winning actor said. He added, “And a lot of the stuff that was found, [including] the contents of his tomb, are replicated beautifully in Tut. The Ancient Egyptians were committed to the idea of immortality, and they achieved it. Because we are using what they left behind and are putting it on the screen.”

Kingsley plays Vizer Ay, a mentor to the young king, play by Avan Jogia as he rises to power and deciphers friend from foe.

Tut premieres Sunday, July 19 at 9 p.m. on Spike.
