Caitlyn Jenner may have just been introduced to the world but she is taking it over rapidly!
Following the reveal of the Vanity Fair cover debuting Bruce Jenner‘s “Her” for the first time, Jenner joined social media as her “new” self. On Twitter, her first post was of the July VF cover then a tweet beaming about living her “true self.” She tweeted, “I’m so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can’t wait for you to get to know her/me.”
Along with landing her first cover, Jenner will be receiving her first award, the prestigious Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs on July 15. Jenner thanked everyone for the “overwhelming outpouring of support” in a statement adding, “being honored with this award, which is named after one of my heroes, is truly special. For the first time this July, I will be able to stand as my true self in front of my peers.”
Executive Producer of the ESPYs Maura Mandt said in a statement, “Bruce has received many accolades over the years for being one of the greatest Olympians of our time but The ESPYS are honored to celebrate Bruce becoming Caitlyn. [Jenner] has shown the courage to embrace a truth that had been hidden for years, and to embark on a journey that may not only give comfort to those facing similar circumstances, but can also help to educate people on the challenges that the transgender community faces.”
