Chazz Nittolo may play the “Gorgeous 8th Grade Boy” on the upcoming Nickelodeon series 100 Things to Do Before High School but he’s far more than just a gorgeous face being a rising singer, dancer, actor and model.

The 15-year-old California native, trained by acting coach Robert Ruffler, challenges himself in acting classes every Tuesday in comedic and dramatic scenes that he performs in front of class. When Chazz isn’t working he’s a “normal” ninth grader that likes to surf, skate, hang with friends, and take in those California beaches. I had the chance to speak with Chazz about his new role on the Nick show, getting started in this industry, and more! Check out the excerpts from our chat.

On getting started: “I started when I was maybe seven years old. Me and my friends were making little videos with like a flip camcorder, acting and were editing little clips from movies we liked. I showed my parents one day and they were like, I’d probably be interested in acting. So I started going on auditions, they [his parents] were driving me all over, then I moved to Malibu, the driving was getting too far for school and sports so I stopped for like two years. I just recently got back into it at my birthday dinner this past year.”

On auditioning for ‘100 Things To Do Before High School’: “Actually I didn’t think I did good and it was really short, it was maybe 30 seconds. I walked out and my dad was ‘how’d you do’ and I don’t know, I think I just got lucky.”

On things he did before high school: “Before I got into high school I wanted to travel, I wanted to get out of America, I wanted to travel with my family. I wanted to get the MVP in water polo. I wanted to do certain things that were just challenges to me.”

On balancing a normal life: “Well I don’t like to think about it like that. I just stay humble and I’m just very grateful I got the part, and just staying real you could say.

On modeling versus acting: “They’re similar then they are not similar. In acting you do different roles where it’s not completely based off how you look it’s more of your personality. With modeling it’s more your ability to look good. I enjoy both though. I prefer acting of course but modeling is just as fun so I balance them out.

On career role model: “Leonardo DiCaprio. I look up to him. I love all his movie choices but if there’s one that stands out it would probably be “[What’s Eating] Gilbert Grape” or “The Basketball Diaries.”

100 Things to Do Before High School is a show about three best friends in middle school who created a unique way to deal with “class cliques, terrifying bullies and clueless teachers.” Their hijinks adventures lead them to create a sort of bucket list of things to do before they reach high school. Nittolo plays the object of affection to CJ Martin played by actress Isabela Moner.
