Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart star as Mike Howell and Phoebe in the upcoming summer action-comedy film “American Ultra” with a newly released red-band trailer.
Written by Max Landis and directed by Nima Nourizadeh, Eisenberg plays a stoner who is ready to propose to his girlfriend (Stewart) but soon realizes his simple town life isn’t as it seems to be and he’s really some sort of bad ass government agent.
In the first trailer for the film, Mike is activated as an agent and he soon begins to remember the life he once lived, but things are a bit a hazy, no pun intended, because you know, with all the weed smoking and all. Fighting and killing off enemy agents, Mike must save his girlfriend, who ends up being taken, and stay alive long enough to figure out who he truly is. The trailer is packed with explosives, gun fights, stoner jokes, and a really bad wig on Jesse Eisenberg.
Walton Goggins, Connie Britton, Topher Grace, John Leguizamo, Tony Hale, and Bill Pullman all appear in “American Ultra,” in theaters August 21, 2015.
