You loved him as a mouseketeer, you loved him as an actor, a singer, and a SNL comedic genius, but now can you love him as a lime?
I’m talking about Justin Timberlake and in one of the most hilarious, and weird, moments of his career. In a new ad for Sauza Tequila, Timberlake stars as Rick “Sour” Vane, a real life lime who talks about his rise to fame as the choice of garnish for tequila up until the arrival of Sauza 901.
With the tagline “No limes needed,” Sauza 901 is celebrating Cinco de Mayo and Vane is reliving the time when limes were on top of the world. Inspired by Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Raging Bull” and “Goodfellas,” Vane recalls a better time saying, “when we walked into the club, it was like everything was in slow motion. Literally. It was like we were rock stars! Oranges? Dead! Maraschinos? Dead!”
Timberlake as the creepy looking lime, goes protesting against Sauza 901 with his fellow limes, but later admits to drinking the tequila and liking it. In another clip, JT apologizes for the premium liquor being so smooth.
