Jennifer Lopez Performs Touching Selena Tribute At Billboard Latin Music Awards [VIDEO]

Jennifer Lopez performed an outstanding, tear jerking, tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla-Pérez during the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami on Thursday, alongside Selena’s family band Los Dinos.

During the six-minute plus performance, Lopez sung many of Selena’s hit songs including: “Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “I Could Fall In Love,” and “No Me Queda Más,”as beautiful images played on screens of the slain singer.

In you recall, Jennifer Lopez played Selena in the 1997 biopic film titled with the Mexican-American singer’s name. The film depicted the rise of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez fame, the close relationship she had with her family and husband, as well as the events that lead to her untimely death; she was murdered by her business associate Yolanda Saldivar, who is still in prison for the crime.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Lopez talked about the tribute number saying, “We wanted to do something special and they asked me if I wanted to be a part of it. And I said of course I did. It was such an impact on my life, getting to know her and being able to play her.”

She added, “She still has such has an impact and people still talk about her. It’s just a beautiful thing. Her spirit is so alive. I wanted to just make it as joyous and kind of happy in celebration of her and her music as I could, and everything she represented, which was family, and love, and music, and laughter. I think it’s going to be a really special moment.”

Following the performance, JLo went on social media to further talk about the memorable moment that warmed everyone’s hearts. She shared photos of herself performing with Selena’s brother and sister, A.B and Suzette, and Selena’s husband Chris. Lopez captioned one photo, “Me and #LosDinos!!! Thank you to you the Quintanilla family for always embracing me…and for sharing the stage with me to remind everyone of the magic of Selena. #SelenaForever #familia #LOVE.”
