Avan Jogia and Ben Kingsley star in the upcoming television show drama TUT on Spike about the rise and fall of the infamous Egyptian Pharaoh King Tutankhamun.
TUT brings former Nickelodeon actor Jogia (Victorious, Twisted) together with Academy-Award winning actor Kingsley (“Gandhi,” “Enders Game”) for an “epic three night mini series event” as the network attempts to tell the story of an iconic pharaoh whose life was filled with triumphs and turmoil, and his death recorded as one of the most mysterious in history.
Nonso Anozie and Ben Kingsley are joined together again, they previously worked together on “Enders Game” in 2013, as General Horemheb and Ay (respectively), the royal advisers for young King Tut. Jogia’s Twisted co-star Kylie Bunbury joins the cast as Suhad, one of Tut’s lovers, and Sibylla Deen plays Tut’s queen Ankhe.
TUT also stars Alexander Siddig, Peter Gadiot, and Iddo Goldberg.
Back in March, a teaser for the upcoming show was released featuring one of the stars, Jogia, in front a black back drop in character with Kingsley’s character giving voice over saying, “enemies lurk in every shadow, they smell your weakness, that is when they strike.” It definitely set the mood for the show. In the first official trailer, there’s much more to appeal to a male and female audience.
The battle and fights scenes in the trailer are on an epic scale of high production value to make the audience feel they are right in the middle of the action. The dreamy, and talented, Avan Jogia is in place to draw the ladies in, especially with that brief tease of a love scene. And for all those just curious to see the life of King Tut depicted on television, this is the show for you. Also the fact that TUT is Spike’s first scripted event series in eight years should bring in some interesting numbers for ratings.
The three night mini series event premieres Sunday, July 19th, 2015 on Spike.
