Kylie Jenner has found herself at the center of an unintentional racial controversy following photos she recently uploaded on her Instagram page from a photo shoot.
The 17-year-old shared photos of herself that completely changed her skin color, that I didn’t automatically think black, but many, I’m talking about you social media, did. Adding fuel to the fire, the original caption for one of the photos read, “What I wish I looked like all the time thank you,” and acknowledging three people who made the look possible; photographer Marcelo Cantu, make up artist Joyce Bonelli, and hairstylist Chris Dylan.
The ridiculous internet took that as Jenner admitting to wanting to be black, or African-American, which ever you prefer, and social media exploded with commentary.
After all the backlash, Jenner changed the caption to “This is a black light and neon lights people lets all calm down,” and went to Twitter to further explain herself in a stream of tweets. “So just got the time to head on social media lol.. The photographer used a black light & neon lights for those photos,” she posted.
She added, “Yes, In another world I wish I could have pink hair & blue eyes & covered in sparkles. But in this world I’m happy w the way God created me. Happy Easter everybody.” [SEE BELOW]
To be honest I didn’t see the photos and think she was in “blackface” or trying “to be black.” It looks alien like to me, or am I just blind, but you tell me what you think in the comments?
