Victoria Justice covers the Spring issue of Kode Magazine and discussed transitioning from being a Nickelodeon star, remaining grounded in the industry, fashion, and more.
“During those two years, I went on a 41 city co-heading concert tour across American with BTR, did a few movies and a TV series (Eye Candy). I had plenty of time to look at different projects and get involved with the ones that I was attracted to,” Justice said about the two years that followed her leaving Nickelodeon when her hit series Victorious ended in 2013.
“I chose a one hour drama named, Eye Candy. It has very mature themes and it’s definitely a 360 degree turn from my series, “Victorious” on Nickelodeon. I think that at first, a lot of people were shocked and very surprised to see me in a role like that. They were used to seeing me on a family friendly show and had a very specific memory of my last character on Nickelodeon. To them, I was the girl who sang and danced and was eternally sixteen years old in high school. Now that Eye Candy just aired its season final I think that most people are now used to seeing me this way and it’s not a big deal any more,” the 22-year-old revealed.
Victoria Justice has been in the entertainment industry since the tender age of 8 and has remained one of the “good girls” of the business, so how does she do it? “I’m extremely grateful for everything that has come my way. I don’t take anything for granted. I’ve been raised to treat everyone with respect and I’ve never felt entitled or that I was better than someone, just because of some of the opportunities that have come my way,” she told the mag.
Adding, “When I’m working on a project, even if I’m the lead of that project, I think of myself, my cast mates, and the crew, as a team and would never make anyone feel less that. What I do is a job, and the fame part has never made me lose sight of the reality of what is really is. It’s a job that I love, and I realize how fortunate I am to be working at something I enjoy so much, and to be able to make a very good living at it.”
Watching the behind the scenes footage of Victoria’s spread, and I never use this terminology in real life but, I had the urge to yell “come through Victoria” at my computer screen. She looks beyond gorgeous and I’m in love with blonde hair on her. I hope she took that wig home.
As stated above, Victoria Justice’s MTV series Eye Candy wrapped its first season last week and fans of the show, including myself, are patiently waiting to see if the mystery/suspense show gets green lit for season 2. Until then, we’ll have to keep an eye out to see what Miss Justice is up to next.
