Luke Evans Joins Disney’s Live Action ‘Beauty and the Beast’ As Gaston

Now this just got interesting.

There is a live action version of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” in the works and I wasn’t that interested. I like my Disney classic films untouched but when news spread that Luke Evans (“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”/”Dracula Untold”) is in negotiations to play Gaston, let’s just say I became an instant fan of the project.

The 35-year-old actor will join Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”) who has been announced to play the lead Belle in the film that will began production later this year.

Directed by Bill Condon (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn 1& 2″/”Dreamgirls”), the film’s script was written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, with edits done by Steve Chbosky, and is expecting to follow the same premise as Disney about a young, beauty slowly falling in love with a cursed prince who has taken the form of a scary beast, whom she attempts to help him break the spell causing his current state.
