FX has new a series coming to the station this summer called Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll starring Denis Leary(Rescue Me), John Corbett (Parenthood, Sex and the City) and Elizabeth Gillies (Victorious).
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is created and written by Leary and is about a “middle-aged rock ‘n roller who desperately wanted to be rich and famous but so far, he’s 0 for 2.”
During the Television Critics Association, also known as the TCA’s, winter press tour, the cast appeared on a panel to discuss the show but the highlight was the amount of F-bombs Leary dropped while gushing about the show.
“Oh my god, this f—ing chick is amazing,” Leary said about Gillies during the audition process. She plays his daughter Gigi on the show and he calls her a “breakout star.” He added, “She was completely unimpressed by me. She sang a f—ing Aretha Franklin song…. Holy f—, she was unbelievable.”
Leary then went on to discuss how the show will have original music much like hit shows Empire and Nashville and that he’s not worried about the music being flops compared to stars topping the charts. “When you write a song, you think it’s the greatest f—ing thing in the world,” he said, adding “Liz Gillies had so many f—ing fans when she was on Nickelodeon.”
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will also star Elaine Hendrix, Robert Kelly, John Ales, and Josh Pais.
I’ll be watching this show because one, I’m in love with Elizabeth Gillies and I’d watch her wash dishes and two, I love a good musical show with an awesome soundtrack, so I’m anticipating this series to have a great one.
Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is slated to premiere on FX this July.
