Keke Palmer is “breaking barriers, handling the haters and owning her sexy” on the January 2015 issue of Essence magazine.
Inside the Essence issue, which is Palmer’s first cover issue with the magazine, she talked about landing the iconic role as the first African-American Cinderella on Broadway. “I know that the role of Cinderella is primarily for a Caucasian girl, but it didn’t stop me from going in and it didn’t stop them from seeing me,” the 21-year-old said.
She continued, “There is a bit of intimidation. You think about Denzel, Viola Davis, and you think, ‘Only great people can do Broadway.’ That was the scariest thing about it, but I’m the type who thrives on pressure.”
Keke Palmer also discussed her nude images being hacked, why she takes breaks from social media and how she stays positive no matter what in the mag.
The January issue of Essence is on newsstands now!
